The White Pass and Yukon Railway Photograph Album contains one hundred and twelve photographs, including many landscape views taken along the route of the White Pass & Yukon Railway. Other subjects in the album include group portraits, persons engaged in construction and other railroad related activities, and scenes of towns and villages along the route. The album cover is embossed with the following title: "Views from White Pass & Yukon Route. The Only Railroad in Alaska. And British Columbia North of the Summit of White Pass."

In 1898-1899 Harrie C. Barley was official photographer for the White Pass & Yukon Route, a narrow-gauge railroad that ran from Skagway, Alaska, to Whitehorse, Yukon. In that capacity, he documented the railroad's construction and early operation. He subsequently maintained a photography business at 4th and Broadway Streets in Skagway.
